Jalapeno-Pear Chutney

This unique sweet and spicy chutney can be enjoyed as a side, with chips as a dip, or as a sandwich spread. Please consider leaving a picture or comment if you decide to try this recipe!

Serves: 5 half pints
Vegan!

Ingredients
2 pounds Pears, peeled and chopped      View Available Products
2 pounds Tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped      View Available Products
2 cups Chopped onions
1 cup Finely chopped seeded jalapeno peppers      View Available Products
1 cup Cider vinegar
1 cup Brown sugar
4 teaspoons Fresh minced ginger root
1 to 2 teaspoons Crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon Ground mustard

Step by Step Instructions
  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a Dutch oven, and bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer uncovered for 45 minutes to an hour. Stir occasionally.
  2. While the mixture is still hot, spoon it into heated half pint jars. Leave a half inch head space in each, remove any air bubbles, wipe the jar rims, and adjust lids as needed.
  3. Process the jars in a boiling water canner for 10 minutes.
