Ground Beef Chili

This recipe uses the local meat, vegetables, sauces, and herbs available at Market2Go. Would pair well with some bread from local bakers or with some homemade cornbread. Please consider leaving a picture or comment if you decide to try this recipe!

2 Celery ribs (chopped)
2 cans Kidney beans
29 ounces Tomato puree (canned or homemade)      View Available Products
1 jar Salsa      View Available Products
14 1/2 ounces Diced tomatoes (canned or homemade)      View Available Products
1 can Condensed beef broth
1 or 2 cups Water
1/4 cup Chili powder
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dried basil (store bought or homemade)      View Available Products
2 teaspoons Ground cumin
2 teaspoons Steak sauce      View Available Products
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons Browning sauce (optional)
Chopped onion for topping (optional)      View Available Products
Shredded cheese for topping (optional)

Step by Step Instructions
  1. In a stockpot, cook the beef, onion, bell pepper, and celery over medium heat. Drain the mixture once the meat is cooked and the vegetables are tender.
  2. Stir in the beans, tomato puree, salsa, diced tomatoes, broth, water, all the sauces and seasonings, and browning sauce if you choose to use it. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer uncovered for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Serving suggestions include chopped onions, shredded cheese, or sliced jalapenos for topping and bread, rolls, or cheese straws as a side.
