Serves: 12 biscuits
Vegetarian!
Ingredients
2 cups
Self rising flour
Topping suggestions include:
Marmalade
Savory gravy
Step by Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Cut the cold butter into the self-rising flour in a large bowl until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the buttermilk just enough to moisten the dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it 3 or 4 times. Pat or roll the dough out to 3/4 inch thickness.
- Flour a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and cut out biscuits from the dough (reforming and rolling it back out again if necessary).
- Place the biscuits onto a greased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Brush the tops of the warm biscuits with the melted butter and serve with desired toppings.
