Roselle Sauce
Source: The Florida Tropical Cookbook 1912 (Entered by Ariana Giddens)Also known as the Florida cranberry, roselle berries can be used to make a delightful, less sour sauce! Please consider leaving a picture or comment if you decide to try this recipe!
Serves: Not listed
Vegan!
Ingredients
1/2 cup
Cold water
1/2 cup
Sugar
Step by Step Instructions
- Pick and wash the roselle berries, trim off the tip ends that seem withered. Cut off stems close up around the calyx, then split open one side, thus letting the center part drop out (The outside part of the berry is the only edible portion)
- Wash them again and put them into a saucepan with the water and sugar. Cook stirring constantly for 5 minutes.
- Once the berries are soft and sweet put the sauce into a bowl and serve cold with your meal.
