Cheesy Popcorn Bread

Many people use popcorn as a substitute for croutons in soups and salad. But did you know that you can use popcorn as an ingredient? Besides boosting the whole-grain power of this versatile side dish, the ground popcorn used here adds texture and interest and helps to create a light and airy corn bread.

Use a well-buttered cast iron skillet for best results.

Classic Salmon Patties

This is the recipe for salmon patties that I grew up with. You can add your own variations, such as herbs, chives, or minced vegetables to it as well. Use your own preference of oil to cook with, like butter or olive oil. If you don’t have the salmon burger meat, you can shred a filet.

Also, you can use gluten-free Bisquick instead of flour, and it comes out the same.

Classic Southern Cornbread

Classic Southern Cornbread is best made with a cast iron skillet. Let the skillet warm up in the oven and melt some butter in it so that a nice crust will form. Some versions of this recipe use bacon drippings instead of or in addition to the butter. Adjust the amount of buttermilk to make a thick batter.
You can also use self-rising cornmeal and omit the baking powder and soda.

Çoban salatası or Shepherd's salad

This dish has lots of names and variations- Choban salad, Mediterranean salad, Israeli salad, Vegetable salad, Shirazi salad, to name a few.

Some recipes omit the pepper. Some use mint instead of the parsley or some use both. Some use lemon juice instead of vinegar. The amount of each vegetable and size adjusted from chopped, diced or minced according to taste and preference.

Coleslaw

Classic coleslaw recipe. Cut the cabbage in half, then into quarters and remove the cores. Chop roughly or use the course side of a box grater to shred the cabbage and carrot. A food processor tends to shred the cabbage too small.
