The market is open!

Hope everyone had a great holiday yesterday and enjoyed some good local food! It’s sure that time of the year — melons galore and berries, along with all of the fresh veggies!

This rainy weather makes me want grits, sausage, and eggs (all of which are available at Market2Go) — and what about some biscuits??

“Easy Pickin’ Blueberry Drop Biscuits”
2 cups whole wheat flour (Freeman’s Mill)
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. cold unsalted butter (Southern Swiss)
1 cup cold milk (Southern Swiss)
1 cup fresh blueberries (available from several of our farmers), washed and drained on a towel, then tossed with 2 tbsp. sugar

1) Preheat oven to 375. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until the mixture is coarsely mixed.
2) Pour in the milk and mix gently with a fork. Before completely mixed, add the blueberries and continue mixing with a large spoon, gingerly, so you won’t bruise the berries.
3) Drop batter by spoonfuls onto a buttered baking sheet. If you’d like, sprinkle a little more sugar over the biscuits before baking.
4) Bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. The time will depend on their size.
5) Serve immediately.
Makes 12 large biscuits.

Happy Shopping!
