Market2Go is Open!

THE MARKET IS OPEN!

Many of you have expressed appreciation for the Market2Go as a safe place to buy good food and support our local farmers. Some of you have asked how you can contribute to the market, wanting to offer a “tip” for services or a significant donation to help sustain this community-based effort. In response to your requests, we have created a “Market Contributions” category on the Market2Go website that includes a range of market donations, from $5 to $100. To make a contribution, just add one of the donation “items” to your shopping basket, and that amount will be included in your total at checkout. Please know that we appreciate your weekly orders as a way of supporting the market and our vendors. There is no obligation or expectation for further contributions, but we are grateful for your help.

ORDER PROCESS.
Place your orders by midnight Tuesday for pickup or delivery on Thursday afternoon.

Choose your pickup location from the drop-down menu before you check out. Options are

  • Statesboro: Thursday afternoon at SCVB
  • Sylvania: Thursday afternoon at Victory Garden General Store
  • To Your Home Delivery (must add delivery to cart and prepay)

Pay online to make our process more efficient and to better meet health guidelines. Register your debit or credit card at Your Account and click “Pay Now” when you check out. Your card will only be charged after you have received your order, including any adjustments for missed items or other credits.
You may now use your EBT/SNAP card to purchase authorized EBT items through the Market2Go, and you’ll receive “bonus” fruits and vegetables through the Georgia Fresh for Less program, effectively doubling your benefits in fresh produce. If you write “EBT” in the order comment field, we will be able to award your bonus dollars. At this time, all EBT transactions must be made by swiping your card at the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau during the Thursday drive-through. If you want to use your card to make market purchases or you know somebody who does, you can learn how by emailing market2gostatesboro@gmail.com.

Statesboro customers can pick up orders on Thursday afternoon in the drive-through at the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau (SCVB). Watch for a Market UPDATE Wednesday night giving specific pickup times.

Want to change your pickup time? The purpose of the time slots is to try to achieve an even flow so nobody has to wait too long. But we want this to be convenient for you: if you need to change your time slot or location, please text 912.481.2263, tell us the ORDER NAME and the TIME you would like to pick up. We will even assign you some “bonus time” if you need to come after 6:30. Just let us know so we can make sure your order is in the right place at the right time. Please do NOT come before 3:30 as this creates a traffic backup.

Remember! When you head out to your pickup location, be sure to take a mask, a placard with your order name(s), and appropriate containers for your food.

THE DRIVE-THROUGH PROCEDURE in Statesboro.

  • Drive to the right (counter clockwise) all the way around the SCVB, keeping to the outer perimeter and maintaining a tight queue. A volunteer will check you in as you come around the far side of the building..
  • Please display the name(s) for your order(s) on a windshield placard to assist in quick and safe check-in.
  • Please wear a mask while communicating with market staff.
  • Provide access to your vehicle and to the containers you want loaded (bags, boxes, bins or coolers); unlock the back door or the trunk, with containers inside.
  • We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items. Ice cream melts, even in a short car trip, and our fresh non-homogenized milk is temperature sensitive.
  • Wait in your car for the runner to come out with your order and load into your containers. Make sure your name placard is visible.
  • If you did not prepay on line with a debit or credit card, please make a check for exact amount when your order is delivered. (You may pay cash in exact amount, but any “change” from cash received will be credited to your account. Use an envelope to label the cash payment with your order name.)

PICKUP for SYLVANIA CUSTOMERS.
Pickup is across the street from the Victory Gardens General Store. Please remain in your car until volunteers bring your order, and wear a mask when interacting with volunteers. We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items.

HOME DELIVERY CUSTOMERS.
Orders will be delivered between 2:30 and 5:00 by Boro Takeout. You will receive a notice when your driver is on the way. We recommend you leave a cooler at the front door (or your designated delivery location) to facilitate no-contact delivery and to keep perishable food safe.

EBT CUSTOMERS.
Right now we can scan EBT/SNAP cards only at the Statesboro pickup location. So, if you have ordered online with the intent to pay with your EBT card, you’ll need to come to the Statesboro Drive Through at the Convention and Visitors Bureau between 3:30 and 6:30. Email or text us in advance so we can calculate your bonus dollars and the amount to be charged to your card.

Market2Go is pleased to announce some new products this week!

In produce, we’ve got some fabulous figs from Ma’s Country Pantry, a new robust radish mixture from Better Fresh Farms that contains three different varieties, and plenty of peaches from both Jacobs Produce and Ogeechee Peaches that are perfect for cobblers and canning! Plus, there’s still one rattlesnake watermelon up for grabs, and though it may be a bit smaller than the ones before it, it’s just as flavorful as any giant!

After you’ve had your fruits and veggies, check out the banana cakewitch that’s new from 4 & 20 bakers – that’s cream cheese icing sandwiched between banana cake slices. They come in a set of two, but it’s okay if you don’t feel like sharing, we promise we won’t tell! :)

Check out the new recipes – one for a Fig & Honey Smoothie, as well as this recipe for Georgia Shrimp and Radish Salad.

Place your order before midnight for pickup on Thursday.
