*"Eating a diet that follows nature’s rhythms is…far from a passing trend; it’s just good sense, and it’s how everyone ate not so long ago—before heart disease, diabetes and obesity managed to wheedle their way into every corner of North America.
The benefits of eating locally grown, seasonal food are many—it’s ultimately cheaper and better for small farmers and your community’s economy, and it’s a great way to keep in step with the natural world. Perhaps more compelling, though, eating seasonally is an especially excellent way to boost nutrition."* borrowed from Mother Earth Living
Enjoy seasonal vegetables and challenge your taste buds and cooking skills! And while you’re at it, enjoy the health benefits of eating an in-season plant-focused diet…place your order this week with Statesboro Market2Go!
Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas! The market is open!
I had a great time tonight with dinner guests, and they were so impressed with the vegetables I served, fresh from Market2Go. We had roasted sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, and onions (all roasted together in a 9×13 pan) and steamed broccoli. I have finally figured out the secret to roasting veggies. Cut them in about 1 inch pieces, and keep the sizes consistent so everything will be ready at the same time. Spray your dish with cooking spray, then cover the veggies with about 1/4 cup good olive oil. Toss to coat, and roast at 425 degrees about 30 minutes. Take out and stir, then continue roasting until veggies are tender, about 15 more minutes. So good!
Have you noticed our new seafood offerings? We’ve always had salmon, but now we’ve added shrimp and halibut. Be sure to get your fresh seafood for New Year’s Eve from us!
Wishing you all a beautiful Christmas!

Market 2 Go Christmas Schedule
Many of you have asked — the market will be open as usual over the next 2 weeks. We will NOT close the Thursday between Christmas and New Year’s.
This week is your last chance before Christmas to order gifts, and we have a great selection of local food as well as gift certificates.
Thanks to Lisa Guidos and Denise McGuire for offering to help at the Sugar Magnolia pickup this week. We also need volunteers for Dec. 27 and Jan. 3 while Katy is home for Christmas holidays.
The Market is OPEN! Last Chance before Christmas!
Last chance to order Christmas gifts before Christmas! Make a cute Christmas basket or fill one of our nice shopping bags with honey, jellies and jams, baked goods, produce, meats, seafood, grits, syrup, pecans, and so much more!
Be sure to get your eggs and dairy products to last through Christmas and all the extra baking and cooking! If you need some help with the baking and cooking, don’t forget our cakes and casseroles.
The Market is OPEN!
We are opening a little early tonight because many of us (me included!) are downtown for Statesboro’s First Friday Christmas Celebration!
Enjoy shopping, and think of us when you are Christmas shopping! Lots of great gifts!
The Market is OPEN! See our NEW products!
Welcome Berry Farms and Prosser Seafood! Many of you have asked for shrimp…and they are here!
Speaking of seafood…we had low country boil for dinner tonight, and apple dumplings for dessert. It was easy to prepare and DELICIOUS! I had lunch out at a local restaurant with our 21 year old son, and couldn’t believe I paid $21 for something that wasn’t even fitting to eat. I’ve found that Stacey and I can cook food that tastes better and is more healthy at home…and we love eating locally!
Some of you are already Christmas shopping with us. So many great gifts…t-shirts, market bags (I will add these tomorrow morning…I need to get a good picture of these nice bags!), local honey, grits, sugar cane syrup, gift bags, handmade grapevine wreaths, soaps, baked goods, books, seafood, meats, and so much more to select from. Who wouldn’t enjoy a great edible gift from the market? Or consider a gift certificate to the market!
